Copy of “La Belle Ferroniere”
50×70 cm, 2006
Private collection, Katwijk aan Zee
The techniques and poses of the Renaissance keep fascinating me. The minute details craftfully rendered, the level of skill in the depiction of the various fabrics and surface, they always let me look at paintings of this era in awe. In cooperation with an American art historian who sought a willing subject I produced this copy of Da Vinci’s masterpiece. A project that took 8 months and many high and low points. I hated this painting at one point, and danced in my studio at anothe point: specifically when I finished a part and everything seemed to come together.
